What We Do

Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (PDHM) is expensive and usually requires a medical prescription, all but eliminating the ability for most well babies to access it.

Our foundation’s mission is to alleviate this inaccessibility by raising funds to offset the costs of donor human milk and help any baby get the chance to receive it.

Human Milk Connection Foundation:

  • Fundraises and provides grants to organizations like Mothers’ Milk Bank of San Jose.
  • Develops programs with the Mother’s Milk Bank to reduce the cost to you, the consumer of donor human milk (as funds are available).
  • Assists with marketing and dollars to help statewide milk drives.
  • Educates people and organizations on the benefits of donor human milk.
  • Is dedicated to creating a low-cost lactation program aimed at families receiving and using donor human milk to supplement their babies.

Our Clients

Our clients are any California baby who needs to be supplemented, whether for medical reasons or by choice.

premature baby

“My baby is premature.”

Although premature babies show special benfits from breast milk, often they are not able to receive enough breast milk for as long as term babies.

Human Milk Connection can help provide donor human milk to this especially vulnerable population.

“My supply decreased when I returned to work.”

Often, decreased supply correlates with returning to work. This adds stress for both high- and low-income familes, and low-income babies are already at increased risk.

Human Milk Connection can help provide more ounces for more health — at a more affordable cost.

“We adopted, and want to give our baby the same chance at optimal nutrition that other babies have.”

We know breast milk acts as a preventative medicine for many conditions, and babies of all backgrounds deserve access to this prevention.

Human Milk Connection can help provide this nutritional equity.

trans couple with baby

“We are a transgender couple, and for us, there are limited options for human milk.”

Making milk, breastfeeding, and chestfeeding can be impaired by a host of medical reasons.

Human Milk Connection can get donor human milk to babies whose parents can’t produce milk.

“For me, accessing human donor milk is the best  milk for my baby.”

Life circumstances often lead families to choose not to breastfeed or pump breast milk. Human milk should still be an option.

Human Milk Connection is committed to providing access to donor human milk to those who choose not to breastfeed.

mother breastfeeding

“I love breastfeeding, but my baby needs a little more until my milk increases.”

Parents commonly need to feed formula as a bridge until breast milk supply increases.

Human Milk Connection can help families who don’t want to use formula to bridge the supply gap with donor human milk.
